W8 – Benefits of Multimedia

Multimedia activities encourage students to work in groups, express their knowledge in multiple ways, solve problems, revise their own work, and construct knowledge. I use multimedia presentations as a way to present material to my students. It helps when I am absent from work or when students needs extra instruction. I have only had students create a multimedia presentation one time in AP Statistics, but I plan to do this more often. They were able to present their ideas in a way that showed me that they really understood the material. When implementing a multimedia presentation in your class, you have to be very specific when giving out the requirements. Otherwise, there will be a lot of questions. A detailed rubric is the best way to go about this. That is what I did and plan to do in the future.
